There is so much to be excited about right now. Thanksgiving is next week, which is instant happiness because, hello, cranberry sauce. Mm Mmm. One of my dearest friends is getting married this weekend. I can’t wait to see her in her dress and celebrate with her and her new hubby. So much to be happy about, and did I mention our house is all decked for Christmas?! It just goes by way too fast not to decorate early!
Speaking of Christmas, have you gals checked out all the new arrivals at Riffraff? They just launched a new look book called the Wish List, and trust me you don’t want to miss all the plaid, sparkly goodness. My love for sequins & the color grey knows no bounds, so of course I had to add this top to my ever growing collection. I love how light it is so I can wear it alone on the warmer days or layer it up on the colder ones.

I wouldn’t say I’m an awesome dancer, but I know how to have fun and dance like a crazy person. I love to dance. It’s the best feeling in the world to hear your favorite song and just start shaking it. Most of my dance moves consist of me making a fool out myself and lip syncing the heck out of the song. Take this advice from the incredible Amy Poehler, “Looking silly can be very powerful. People are their most beautiful when they are laughing, crying, dancing, playing, telling the truth, and being chased in a fun way.”
Here’s a playlist to get your feet a movin’.

Oh Halloween, you were real sweet this year. I have always loved Halloween because I love candy! Duh! Also because I love dressing up as funny characters. This year I had 3 costumes. First on Friday we dressed up for work. I took a few pointers from the ladies from Treasures and Travels and was a walking cone of cotton candy. I got so many comments about it and I’m so happy with the way it turned out. Some of my friends and I went out Friday night and I changed into my Wayne costume from Wayne’s World. Naturally, one of my best friends was Garth. We had a blast dancing. Saturday we had a Halloween/birthday party to attend and I knew I wouldn’t make it in that Wayne wig, so me and Xana dressed as fancy kitties and had our friend Heather go as our little mouse. All of my friends had the best costumes, but I have to say my husband took the cake. He dressed up as cousin Eddie from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. If you have no idea who that is or have never seen that movie, well shame on you! It’s only the most hilarious, classic movie from the 80′s. Add it to your winter bucket list. Such a great weekend and we finally hit our cold streak here. It’s amazingly freezing. I’m so happy. Now that Halloween is over I’m in my everything Christmas mode! Eek! I am super excited!
Hope you all had a fun Halloween weekend!
I baked my first ever pumpkin pie this past Sunday! I love that my Ban.do planner has fun to-dos every weekend, and this past weekend was bake a pumpkin pie. I was so excited, since this was my first, and nervous ’cause I’m not the best baker in the world. I had a pumpkin painting party so I knew the pie would make a perfect treat. Everyone LOVED it! Here’s the easy peasy recipe! Enjoy!
Recipe from allrecipes.com
1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin
1 (14 ounce) can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
Preheat oven to 425 and whisk all ingredients in medium sized bowl until smooth. Pour into crust then bake 15 minutes.
Reduce oven to 350 and continue baking for 35 to 40 minutes or until knife inserted 1 inch from crust comes out clean. Let cool and add some whipped cream and enjoy!
Since changing my hair to lavender, purple, violet, (all the purples it has faded or changed to) I have gotten many questions! Here’s a little FAQ! If you have any other questions please contact me through my email or comment below!
Did you have to bleach your hair?
Yes! I went to my salon and they lifted my hair to a white blonde.
How did you choose a color, and what tips do you have about choosing a color?
I have always wanted pastel hair. When I saw Kelly Osbourne and Nicole Richie flaunting it, I knew I had to try it out! I was super nervous ’cause I’ve never done anything this drastic to my hair, so I had no idea what to expect. I love it so much! My tips on choosing a color would be make sure it compliments your skin tone and your wardrobe. Have fun with it and if you have confidence and you love it then that’s all that matters.
Is your hair texture different?
It is, but in a good way! I condition it really well, and I’m able to avoid washing it for several days.
Does it fade easily?
It did the first time she put the lavender on my hair. I had to go back a second time to really let it set in and it’s been going strong since then.

Why do such great weekends have to come to an end? Don’t get me wrong, I love the start of a new week, but the weekends are always just the icing on the cake. We got to hang with new and old friends and we had some chilly weather! Yay! We saw the movie Gone Girl on Saturday, and you guys… you have to see it! It is absolute craziness! I could tell you all what happens, but I’ll spare you the longest blog post ever and just say go see it! Now! Sundays are always my favorite. We have church, which was really good! One of the quotes that stood out to me was, ” When the things you want become less important than what God wants, then you lose the boredom.” It’s so true. I’m not perfect whatsoever, and I struggle daily, but that quote is the perfect explanation of life. We stray away from what God wants for us and we get bored. I know his plan for me is way better than any plan I could make for myself.
“The voice whose power created all things from nothing? That is the voice who speaks into my heart and makes it new.” – She Reads Truth
With all that said, I am blessed beyond measure and so are you.
So about the outfit, I wore this yesterday and I am in love with this blouse. The peter plan collar and polka dots give it sweet girlie touches. I have been really into high waisted jeans lately so I loved the top tucked it. It gives off a retro-vibe and accentuates curves that are sometimes hidden.
Hope you all have a great week!
I had someone ask me to do a post about my hair, so please comment below if you have any questions about it and I’ll post it this week!
