Mint Julep

I am so excited to introduce y’all to The Mint Julep Boutique. They contacted me a couple of weeks ago to do a collaboration and I just had the best experience working with them. Their tag line rings so true too, “Flawless style. Impeccable service.” They have so many items that made my eyes go all heart shaped. They sent me this aztec cardigan and I just love it! I love getting new pieces to style, and this season of styling is my absolute favorite. I’ve just started to get into hats. I wasn’t sure if I could pull them off, but I’m having fun trying out different styles & sizes. A huge thank you goes out to The Mint Julep Boutique for adding the finishing touch to my outfit. This cardigan is just what my closet needed!

How was your weekend? I mentioned on Friday that one of my friends was getting married, so that was the highlight of ours. We had the best time celebrating her and her new husband. I have this really great group of friends and it’s so exciting how we are all growing up and getting married and having babies. I can’t believe I’ve been married for 3 1/2 years. It’s so fun being married to your best friend. Everyday really is an adventure. I am ridiculously happy and I hope it stays that way forever.

Celebrate

There is so much to be excited about right now. Thanksgiving is next week, which is instant happiness because, hello, cranberry sauce. Mm Mmm. One of my dearest friends is getting married this weekend. I can’t wait to see her in her dress and celebrate with her and her new hubby. So much to be happy about, and did I mention our house is all decked for Christmas?! It just goes by way too fast not to decorate early!

Speaking of Christmas, have you gals checked out all the new arrivals at Riffraff? They just launched a new look book called the Wish List, and trust me you don’t want to miss all the plaid, sparkly goodness. My love for sequins & the color grey knows no bounds, so of course I had to add this top to my ever growing collection. I love how light it is so I can wear it alone on the warmer days or layer it up on the colder ones.

Happy Friday!

Friendsgiving

Hey y’all! I am so sorry for the lack of posts last week. I had a little bit of a bad hair week. Sadly, I have no more lavender hair. I am super bummed. I seriously feel like I was supposed to be born with that hair color. It really becomes a part of who you are. Okay enough of me crying about it. Haha.

This past weekend I was invited to my first ever blogger event. Courtney from My Friend Court, hosted a super fun, sparkly friendsgiving. I had the best time connecting with new people and meeting people I already felt like I knew because of ‘ol Instagram. We crafted, ate, laughed, and put together shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child & donated blankets to a Touch of Warmth. It was just a perfect way to end the weekend. I love meeting people who share some of the same passions as I do. I look forward to new friendships and many more blogger parties! As a side note, Atlanta has some of the best murals and art walls. Two of my Atlanta friends took me by one on the way home and it was so cool! It makes me want to move to Atlanta, maybe just a little bit. ;)

Hope you all are having the best week! I have some exciting things coming up!

Graphic Tee Tuesday : Put On Your Boogie Shoes

I wouldn’t say I’m an awesome dancer, but I know how to have fun and dance like a crazy person. I love to dance. It’s the best feeling in the world to hear your favorite song and just start shaking it. Most of my dance moves consist of me making a fool out myself and lip syncing the heck out of the song. Take this advice from the incredible Amy Poehler, “Looking silly can be very powerful. People are their most beautiful when they are laughing, crying, dancing, playing, telling the truth, and being chased in a fun way.”

Here’s a playlist to get your feet a movin’.

Halloween 2014

Oh Halloween, you were real sweet this year. I have always loved Halloween because I love candy! Duh! Also because I love dressing up as funny characters. This year I had 3 costumes. First on Friday we dressed up for work. I took a few pointers from the ladies from Treasures and Travels and was a walking cone of cotton candy. I got so many comments about it and I’m so happy with the way it turned out. Some of my friends and I went out Friday night and I changed into my Wayne costume from Wayne’s World. Naturally, one of my best friends was Garth. We had a blast dancing. Saturday we had a Halloween/birthday party to attend and I knew I wouldn’t make it in that Wayne wig, so me and Xana dressed as fancy kitties and had our friend Heather go as our little mouse. All of my friends had the best costumes, but I have to say my husband took the cake. He dressed up as cousin Eddie from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. If you have no idea who that is or have never seen that movie, well shame on you! It’s only the most hilarious, classic movie from the 80′s. Add it to your winter bucket list. Such a great weekend and we finally hit our cold streak here. It’s amazingly freezing. I’m so happy. Now that Halloween is over I’m in my everything Christmas mode! Eek! I am super excited!

Hope you all had a fun Halloween weekend!

xoxo

Granny Chic

I have a special place in my heart for all things vintage. I love seeing items that my grandparents use to have being used to decorate houses today. I think the reason I love things like that is because it brings back such sweet memories. I was on the hunt for a dress that would match my new hair perfectly. Asos has the best selections of dresses. They have every color and style you can think of. When I came across this one I knew it would be the right fit for my new lavender do, and I loved the vintage feel. It reminded me of something my granny would have worn. I have always been in love with midi dresses, but wasn’t sure it work with my height. Luckily it hit in just the right spot and the fit was perfect! Asos never let’s me down. :)

I knew these Free People clogs would give my look the finished granny chic I was going for. I love how granny chic has become apart of the world of fashion. Who would have ever thought dressing like your grandma would be in? I’m loving the florals, pops of colors, and traditional textiles. At least when we do get older we will already be in style, I just hope I’m as awesome as Iris Apfel (92 year old fashion icon).

“I see myself as the worlds oldest living teenager, because I have such a good time, and because I try to get as much of a kick out things as much as possible.” -Iris Apfel

Hey girl, let’s bake a pumpkin pie.

I baked my first ever pumpkin pie this past Sunday! I love that my Ban.do planner has fun to-dos every weekend, and this past weekend was bake a pumpkin pie. I was so excited, since this was my first, and nervous ’cause I’m not the best baker in the world. I had a pumpkin painting party so I knew the pie would make a perfect treat. Everyone LOVED it! Here’s the easy peasy recipe! Enjoy!

You’re Turning Violet, Violet

Since changing my hair to lavender, purple, violet, (all the purples it has faded or changed to) I have gotten many questions! Here’s a little FAQ! If you have any other questions please contact me through my email or comment below! :)

Did you have to bleach your hair?

Yes! I went to my salon and they lifted my hair to a white blonde.

How did you choose a color, and what tips do you have about choosing a color?

I have always wanted pastel hair. When I saw Kelly Osbourne and Nicole Richie flaunting it, I knew I had to try it out! I was super nervous ’cause I’ve never done anything this drastic to my hair, so I had no idea what to expect. I love it so much!  My tips on choosing a color would be make sure it compliments your skin tone and your wardrobe. Have fun with it and if you have confidence and you love it then that’s all that matters.

Is your hair texture different?

It is, but in a good way! I condition it really well, and I’m able to avoid washing it for several days.

Does it fade easily?

It did the first time she put the lavender on my hair. I had to go back a second time to really let it set in and it’s been going strong since then.

Blessed

Why do such great weekends have to come to an end? Don’t get me wrong, I love the start of a new week, but the weekends are always just the icing on the cake. We got to hang with new and old friends and we had some chilly weather! Yay! We saw the movie Gone Girl on Saturday, and you guys… you have to see it! It is absolute craziness! I could tell you all what happens, but I’ll spare you the longest blog post ever and just say go see it! Now! Sundays are always my favorite. We have church, which was really good! One of the quotes that stood out to me was, ” When the things you want become less important than what God wants, then you lose the boredom.” It’s so true. I’m not perfect whatsoever, and I struggle daily, but that quote is the perfect explanation of life. We stray away from what God wants for us and we get bored. I know his plan for me is way better than any plan I could make for myself.

“The voice whose power created all things from nothing? That is the voice who speaks into my heart and makes it new.” – She Reads Truth

With all that said, I am blessed beyond measure and so are you. :)

So about the outfit, I wore this yesterday and I am in love with this blouse. The peter plan collar and polka dots give it sweet girlie touches. I have been really into high waisted jeans lately so I loved the top tucked it. It gives off a retro-vibe and accentuates curves that are sometimes hidden.

Hope you all have a great week!
I had someone ask me to do a post about my hair, so please comment below if you have any questions about it and I’ll post it this week! :)
